Clara is the story of feminist icon and groundbreaking classical composer, Clara Schumann.
This one-woman show, set in the 19th century, tackles with irony and sensitivity questions we still haven’t answered in the 21st.
Fusing words and music, Clara explores the story of this fascinating and controversial woman, delving into her life and relationships, including those with her composer husband, Robert Schumann, and with the equally renowned composer Johannes Brahms.
Enjoy this very special show as an immersive experience at the Fidelio cafe, while sampling our delicious food and a cocktail or a glass of wine.
Performer Elena Mazzon says about the show: “I was fascinated by how modern and yet deeply rooted in her times Clara was. A woman of extraordinary talent, who still doubted herself and her value as an artist and as a woman, hugely influenced by the men in her life but also capable of making strong choices in a society that relegated women to a subordinate role. I believe it’s time for Clara’s story to be heard, in words and through her passionate music.”
In its review of a previous performance of the show, NoHo Arts District said:
“Elena Mazzon is breathtaking as Clara. I cannot thank her enough for her performance and her brilliance, her devotion to the story, her creativity in its execution and for the music.”
